About Us

We like fig trees. Growing fig trees, selling fig trees, talking about fig trees…and eating figs (of course!)

Update 5/09/08: We haven’t decided what we’re doing about farmers’ markets this year, so email us if you really need to know. Thanks!
Update 6/10/07: We’re not doing farmers’ markets this year, so look for us at home. Thanks!

For over 25 years, we’ve been doing something a little unusual: growing Mediterranean figs in northwestern NJ (Zone 5-6).
Eventually, we starting selling them to people in our area. There’s a strong connection between fig trees and people who grew up in or near the Italian communities of NJ and NY. Many remember their fathers and grandfathers wrapping or burying the family tree for the harsh winter, and they remember eating a fig straight from the tree.

It’s not surprising that they want to have trees of their own, and give these trees as gifts…they’re a lot more than the standard potted plant.

Not only are fig trees a meaningful present for Dad on Father’s Day, they’re also great ways to mark a milestone event like a birth, wedding, graduation, confirmation, or memorial.

For directions, prices, & hours, call: (908) 832-7770. We’re in Hunterdon County, and yes, it’s easy to get lost out here.

We don’t sell trees online. If you want one, come and see us. If you’re not in the NJ area, you can still browse the site, look at our pictures, and email us your fig tree questions. Eventually, we’d like to be able to take more of your questions and turn them into new FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions). We’ll be posting photos throughout the season, and we’ll be posting our photos of how we wrap our in-ground trees for winter. So please come back often.

Important note: We are not shipping this year! We will be selling at area green markets and farmers’ markets instead. Please check the Journal page for updates.
The site was redesigned for Father’s Day 2005: we’re still getting used to it ourselves. There may be some little glitches at first, but we’re confident that the new site will work well for us, and also for you, our friends. Note: If you’re a Firefox user, please feel welcome to subscribe to our RSS feed.
